The cost is $55 per person and payable online or by mail. Coffee, water, and snacks are included and will be available on the bus. Lunch is included in the cost.

ABOUT LSU HILLTOP ARBORETUM

Explore fourteen beautiful acres in Baton Rouge that showcase an extensive collection of Louisiana native trees and shrubs. Hilltop Arboretum Director Peggy Coates will present a lecture on native plants. You are invited to cross the old footbridge overlooking a twenty foot deep ravine and to wander into the tranquil “cathedral”, where tree canopies form a green protective room. Discover the bamboo grove where you can sit and listen to the wind in the trees. In the meadow, tall grasses and colorful autumn wildflowers shimmer in the bright Louisiana sunlight. The visitor to LSU Hilltop Arboretum will find not only a place of learning, but a quiet place, far removed from the pressures of life; a place of solace and contemplation. There is also a greenhouse with native plants and pass-alongs for purchase.

ABOUT LUNCH IN THE WESTFALL GARDEN

Tour and lunch in the private garden of Russ and Nancy Westfall. They have visited gardens all over the world. Russ is a master gardener. His garden has an English influence. In addition to ornamental plants and flowers, he grows vegetables and citrus.

ABOUT CLEGG’S NURSERY

Clegg's Nursery is a locally owned garden center that has been flourishing in Baton Rouge since 1955. Current owners are Scott Ricca and Tom Fennell. Clegg’s has both retail and wholesale facilities in four different locations. They have an extensive collection of plants and an experienced staff who enables the retail stores to provide customers with some of the best locally grown bedding plants in Baton Rouge. You will have the opportunity to purchase beautiful additions to your own gardens.
