The Louisiana Master Gardener program offered through the LSU AgCenter, combines horticulture education with volunteer service to our community.

Upcoming Training Classes

St. Tammany Parish training classes are typically held in August. Dates for the 2027 classes have not been announced. Application information will be posted here as the training season approaches. Please check back for schedule and details.

Requirements for certification

To become a certified Louisiana Master Gardener, participants must:

• Complete the LSU AgCenter's minimum 40-hour horticulture training course.

• Pass the course examination.

• Complete at least 40 hours of approved volunteer service within one year after finishing the course,

• Complete required volunteer screening, forms, and mandatory training.

Maintaining Certification

To remain certified, Master Gardeners must complete 20 hours of volunteer service and 6 hours of continuing education each year, along with required annual documetation.
