This day-long event is open to Master Gardeners and their guests. Seating is limited to 40, so please sign up early to make sure you have a seat!

LOGISTICS

7:30 am Board bus at LSU AgCenter

8:00 am Bus departs

Visit and tour the MS State Beaumont Horticultural Unit (Beaumont, MS)

Lunch at Fulmer General Store and Bakery (Beaumont, MS)

Visit and tour the South MS Branch Experiment Station (Poplarviille, MS)

4:15 pm Bus returns to LSU AgCenter

COST & INCLUSIONS

Cost is $35 per person and payable online.  Breakfast snacks, coffee and water included and will be available on the bus.​ Lunch is not included in the cost.

​ABOUT THE MS STATE BEAUMONT HORTICULTURAL UNIT

The Beaumont Horticultural Unit is located on 20 acres which includes a shop/office, tractor shed, and three high tunnels. Its combined mission is vegetable production and urban horticulture. Research focuses on variety trials, cultural practices, production techniques, and demonstrations of various vegetables, small fruits, and landscape and gardening ideas.

ABOUT THE FULMER GENERAL STORE AND BAKERY

Located outside of Richton, Mississippi, Fulmer’s Farmstead is a horse-drawn produce farm operated by the Ken Fulmer family. Fulmer’s Farmstead features a historic homesteading atmosphere with century old cabins, resourceful livestock, and a fully-operating general store with bulk foods, hardware, a bakery, and a cafe serving a daily home-cooked lunch. http://fulmersfarmstead.com/the-farm

ABOUT SOUTH MS BRANCH EXPERIMENT STATION

The South Mississippi Branch Experiment Station is located in Poplarville. Work in the laboratories, research plots and greenhouses at the South Mississippi Branch is aimed at improving cultural and management practices for the production of small fruits, ornamental plants, vegetables, melons and other crops grown in the Gulf Coast region. http://coastal.msstate.edu/south-mississippi-experiment
